Is it a belt or is it a belt.....

Innovations .... the key to many kickass things you see today in front of your eyes, trust me you don't have to be Einstein or Newton to invent or innovate. An eye for fashion and good observation skills is all what you need... I was amazed myself when i converted a useless kept thing into a chic belt

I had bought a bag some time back and discovered this detachable strap inside it which could convert my hand bag into a sling bag. But i never really appreciated it and hence it found a lonely corner in my wardrobe. So once when i was hunting for an orange belt in my cupboard, i saw this belt like thing in a corner .....

I picked it up and said to myself " Wait a minute, this can be my new belt". And very excitedly i took it, adjusted it and tied it around my waist. And believe you me not even a single person realized that this is not a waist belt.

So, go clean your cupboard right now and you 'll find many unused things like these, convert them into something fab and be your own fashion guru....

Be innovative, Be stylish!!!

Wats ur colour this monsoon?

Horoscope for the season!!!
Paint this monsoon with your own zodiac colours. Wanna know how then read the colour tip for every sun sign...

Aries: Since your colours are red black and white, you can either buy apparels in all these colours or just stick to one of these colours. Say, buy an umbrella of white colour, a windcheater of red colour and shoes of black colour. Or simply buy a plastic or rexine bag which has all these three shades in one.

Taurus: Hmmmmm... its pastels and blues for you. Buy an umbrella or a windcheater in blue colour and stick to pastel shades for your shoes.

Gemini: Some interesting colours here; silver & orange. There's so much you could do with these colours, buy a silver pair of shoes or a silver plastic bag and invest in an orange windcheater/umbrella.

Cancer: Colours like pearl, lavender & silver; a pearl necklace for every cancerian is a must. Both lavender & silver will be pleasant colours for either shoes/windcheaters/umbrellas.

Leo: As the sign suggests , golden yellow & orange are your colours. Since both are bright colours they will look nice in form of a windcheater or an umbrella. Go, run and buy a cool pair of sneakers in one of these colours. You sure will make heads turn.

Virgo: Shades of green and grey are your colours; a mix of both subtle and loud. Go subtle on the windcheater with a grey colour and be loud on your feet with a fluroscent green rain shoes. Find a bag which has a combination of both these colours and flaunt it.

Libra: Blue & pink for your pleasant & charming personality. Build contrast with a pair of blue shoes and a pink umbrella/ windcheater. Play with various shades of these blues and pinks. A pink and blue polka dotted bag will look hip

Scorpio: Dark red is your colour; Pick up a bag or shoes of the same colour, or grab some of the windcheaters or umbrellas in dark reds.

Sagittarius: Purple and red for your fire sign; buy purple coloured shoes and contrast it with all the other dark shades. A red umbrella or windcheater will look nice and bright for the foggy monsoons.

Capricorn: Earthy colours for this earth sign; go out and buy some earthy coloured monsoon stuff. A pair of brown shoes, a mustard colour umbrella, an orangy red windcheater and more.

Aquarius: Electric blue i.e. bright light blue is your colour; the colour of the sea, the sky. Any apparel or accessory will look nice in this colour. Just go blue with windcheater, umbrella and shoes for a soothing effect on you & others as well.

Pisces: The most beautiful colours of the nature; turquoise blue and sea green. Buy a nice bag in any of these colours. A windcheater/umbrella of sea green colour and a pair of turquoise blue shoes will do the works for you.

So, what are you waiting for? Go all over with colours....

Fashion for the rains!!!

The weather's pleasant, the leaves are moist, the sky is dark, the roads are wet and are your clothes too. Oh boy, is the dampness in the weather coming in your way of style. Stop right here, pick up these tips and make your rainy style statement.

1.Hurry up, go buy a bag made either of plastic or a rexine, worth a rain investment.

2. Gum boots; answer to your rain prayers. If you have someone coming from abroad as
k them to pick up a pair of gum boots in whichever colour you like. After all you don't wanna be victimized with the dirt around you.

3. Don't wait for winters, grab your windcheaters now and step out. Here locally, the designs ain't great. So, try picking up one from any of the sports store. Abroad, you get hot
patterns and designs even for a windcheater, try calling one for yourself. Vibrant colours like pink, orange, blue, green would do wonders and give you a distinctive appeal as well.

4.Splish, splash, splish, splash.. make some noise this monsoon with your new chic rain shoes. Few obvious buys would be crocs, floaters and slipons but if you want chic, it has to be Bata. Step into a Bata store and you will find a whole range of rain shoes. The one which really caught my eye was a pair of ballet shoes, available in all colours from white to blue to purple to maroon to pink and beige. The smartest buy of the season at just Rs 300,so run and grab your pair.
This blue one is my pair of rain shoes which i picked up from Bata.

5. Girls, get all your skirts out of the closet now or they'll simply rot inside in
this weather. Short or knee length skirt, tight or flowy, denim or linen.. whatever and however, but make sure that you have enough of this piece of clothing stacked up. For investing in cheap skirts take a trip to Bandra linking road, hill road and Colaba causeway.

6. Short pants, short pants and more of short pants; the style funda this season... Call it capris, knee pants or three quarter pants; all these will suit just fine when teamed up with a shirt or a tee. Keep your full pants off the dirt.

7. Now is the time to wear all those old clothes which you'd hidden deep inside your wardrobe. Just accessorize them a little bit or get creative with them.
Make a bag, a scarf or a belt out of them, alter them, get embroidery done or just get them restitched in new design.

8. Caps and bandanas should be brought to use in these rains. So no worries even if your windcheater is not hooded, you have something to save your head from these showers.

9. A tip for the office goers; keep an extra pair of clothing and shoes in your drawers. You never know when, where and how you might need them.

10. Get regular pedicures done to save yourself from the embarrassment of dirty feet.

Keep it short, plastic, cotton and non transparent this monsoon. Enjoy the rains till it lasts and shout it out loud " Bring on the rains."

What looks best with skinny jeans?

The same question haunted me when i bought my pair of skinny jeans a month back. When i went home and tried to match my tees, tops and kurtas with the jeans, hardly ten of them looked fine. I felt it was time i changed my wardrobe but still i had to go on with my old clothes for few more days. I sat down and mentally shortlisted the kind of tops, shoes, bags and accessories for my pair of skinny. So, here goes it;

1. Ganjees, ganjees and more ganjees would look fab. If it's a long one, then simply tuck it in neatly and wear a belt either of the same colour as your ganjee or a colour contrasting to that. Like a brown ganjee could be worn with a yellow, orange, green, pink, red and even a blue belt. It has to be a sling bag for this kind of an attire, with a lot of beaded jewelery. Beads for your arms and your neck.

2. Shirts whether; cap sleeved, full sleeved, three quarter sleeved or sleeveless would give a formal and classy look if tucked in and graced with a belt. The colour of the belt obviously will depend on the occasion, say if it's a formal meeting then avoid too much contrast but do wear contrast if it's a casual event. Peep toes or Pump shoes can be worn to look elevated or wear ballet shoes to walk more comfortably. But please try and match the colour of your shoes with your belt. A medium sized bag will go well with your attire; you can match the colour of the bag with your belt and shoes, or you can go with an earthy shade.

3. Nowadays skinny jeans is a hot property at all the parties. If you are gonna be lounging or dancing then get hold of your regular spaghetti tops, halter necks, one shoulders, off shoulders, tube or some other extraordinary designer party wear tops. Combine a sleek thin shimmery sequinned belt, a pair of comfortable shoes like a pair of wedge heels or a sequinned pair of flat chappals and match a clutch bag with it.

And if you just stepping out for dinner then match a kaftan top, a mutton sleeved top or a plain tee with your jeans. Pep up your simple tee by wearing danglers, a pretty neckpiece, your watch and a bracelet. Carry a purse of the same colour of your top and put on a similar coloured belt as well. Either a pair of heels or a pair of fancy flat chappals will look nice on your feet.

4. For a day out at the beach, just fold your skinny jeans till the knees and you are all ready to go and hang out with the waves. Any plain tee would do except white or light coloured ones. Flip Flops, crocs or slip ons for your feet and for your shoulders a sling bag or a rucksack would do.

A kurta, a tunic top wouldn't look great with skinny jeans. Probably wearing a chunky belt over your short kurta will make it an acceptable apparel for skinny jeans.

Don't limit your creativity to this blog, go out and experiment with your clothes and trust me dressing up will be fun. Be innovative and add that difference to your wardrobe.

Sizzle at the IPL!!!

As the semi finals are approaching, all you girls out there would be gearing up to look your best at IPL. I thought and thought and thought that what kind of an appearance would stand out amongst the crowd. And i conclude that the first rule is to be comfortable and then look stylish, since comfort is directly proportional to style.

Work with dresses: A knee length cotton with floral print or light embroidered linen dress would look comfortably elegant. Choose the colour of the season like pink, beige, yellow, white or blue. Keep it strappy, sleeveless or cap sleeved. Pair it up with Roman tie ups or flaunt those pumps if you can carry them off for a good 4- 5 hours. Accessories like oxidized bangles and big earrings would suit best for the season, place and occasion. Keep it less as it's going to be too hot to add too many chunky pieces of jewelry. Carry a suede leather or a jute bag to keep it convenient as you might need to stuff in some necessities. Add a straw hat to look even more stylish.

Leggings: Team up a long shirt, a short kurta or a top with lot of drapes with a pair of leggings. Again stick to the colours of the season. Put on ballet shoes or sequinned chappals and carry a colourful printed bag. Accessorize your clothes by adding a long chain or a pearl necklace along with a fancy watch. A polo cap would look fab with this combination.

Show off those legs: Personally i am a big fan of shorts and knee pants, they are so comfortable and stylish at the same time. Its time you sport that Indo-Western look with Cotton shorts and ethinc kolhapuri chappals. A simple tee will complete your outfit. Even better, wear linen knee pants with a T back and a contrast coloured shrug over it. Carry a sling bag and coordinate it with funky slippers, try and keep the colours same. Why not exhibit some chunky bangles or beads and cover your head with a bandana or a polo cap.

It's time you get ready to cheer your favourite team at the IPL semi finals.

Say no to these trends

"Looks don't matter, what matters is inner beauty and intelligence."
If you say that you totally believe in the above statement then you must be lying to yourself. I don't say that only looks matter, but appearance does win a lot of points when it comes to first impressions. As humans, we see what we like and we reciprocate well if we like what we see.
"To err is human" & that's why we have all been guilty of partaking in some bad fashion trends. So lets try to eliminate some of these common fashion blunders.

1.Don't make the mistake of wearing a striped shirt with striped trousers. It'll make you look as if you are just out of the prison.Carry a plain shirt with striped trousers or vice versa.
2. High waist jeans which cover your belly button and taper down at the bottom are passe, they make you look so out of proportion. Throw them and add some of low waist straight cuts, low waist flaired or low waist skinny jeans
3. Avoid wearing body hugging and revealing clothes if you are on the plump side. Balloon and poncho tops, or tops which have drapes at the waist would look classy and elegant
4.Don't wear sneakers to a party and don't land up wearing heels to a picnic. I am sure you don't wanna feel out of place.
5.Bend and look in the mirror that your jeans are not way too low to make your lower back visible to the whole world . Sport a belt or a long top which will cover your jeans just right.
6. Remember a translucent top can't be worn with a dark coloured bra, rather choose a nude or tan coloured which resembles your skin tone.
7.Make sure that your panty line is not visible when you wear trousers, invest in thongs to save yourself from this embarrassing situation
8. Don't buy shoes you can't walk in, you 'll just be a walking fashion disaster. Forget those uncomfortable heels and opt for walking friendly shoes. It won't make you look silly.
9. Chipped nail polish is a big no no on both your nails and toenails. Please buy a nail polish remover immediatey and repaint your nails.
10.While choosing jewelry, make sure you do not add too many chunky pieces. For instance, if you wear chunky bangles then keep your necklace as subtle as possible.

Take that extra minute to go through this checklist the next time you move out of your house as first impression does count.

"It doesn't matter who you wear, but how you wear it."

It's a steal on the street!!!

Oh My Gosh! 1500 Rs. just for a top...
Probably all of us react like this when we look at the in exorbitant prices of anything and everything. Wherever we go, whatever we buy we always land up spending around two to three grands may it be clothes, footwears or bags.

But trust me life’s not as bad as we make it look like. The other day I was just loafing around at Bandra Hill road and I found this shop which sells hot footwear ranging from 100 to 400 Rs. Peep toes, Wedge heels, Stilletoes, ballet shoes, tie ups, chappals… you name it and they have it. The shop is right opposite Globus in a small lane. Go out there and grace your feet by buying some extraordinary stuff at cheap prices. Walk ahead and you’ll find piles and piles of tops at a distance of every 2 feet. Dig in and you‘ll really surprise yourself when you find international brand labels. Ask the guy ‘Kitne ka Bhaiya’, & he’ll say ‘100 Rs, Madam.’ Walk ahead and you‘ll find a stall which sells the same chunky bangles you saw on your colleagues hands the other day. Pick up whichever you like but don’t pay him more than 35- 40 for each bangle.

Move ahead and at the little corner you’ll find all sorts of shirts hanging from this huge tree. Please stop there and buy atleast 2 shirts. It’s going to be worth it. No one in the world can remotely even figure how much you paid for these shirts, 100 Rs. again.

I had to visit Bandra Linking road after my exciting expedition to Hill Road. I ignored the stores and headed straight to street shops. There were a couple of shops selling the usual tops and kurtis. But what laid ahead was a whole row of shoe stalls which lured the passers by. It was a complete shoe world, selling all kinds of pairs; black & white, blue & pink, red & green, orange & yellow, gold & silver. Trust me, you can't help but gaze and eventually buy. Cross those never ending shoe shops, and find tops, skirts, harem pants, T Backs, accessories on sale. Take a peek into these stalls, you never know what you find. And then just as you spot KFC, stop and enter that lane just to discover a fortune of belts. Have a look and I assure you, you ‘ll atleast buy one.

As i discovered the potential of Bandra street shopping. I decided to visit Colaba Causeway, rightly known as the second heaven for street shoppers. Just Stand at CafĂ© Mondegar and look straight ahead, you’ll only spot bags, beads, belts and clothes offcourse. Look left, look right and you don’t what you might lay your hands on. Beads, Chunky bangles, long beaded necklaces, earrings, danglers, hoops, studs, kurtis, tops, skirts, harem pants, football jerseys, shorts, scarves, shawls, chappals, tie ups, varieties of pretty looking ethnic kolhapuris, crocs, sunglasses, spectacles, jholas, formal bags, big bags, purses, clutches, wallets, belts.. big ones and small ones, phew… the list is endless.

And all this costing only between the range of 100 – 500 Rs.

Cover the whole stretch of causeway upto the petrol pump and I’m sure you’ll have bags full of exquisite stuff on your way back.

What's in your bag?

Imagine being caught in a situation where you have to go out on a date in the month of May, you are sweating profusely and you don’t even have a spray.

What would you do? Beg, Borrow, Steal or just turn off the date….

Don’t do any of that, just follow this simple list of have’s in your bag:

Lip Gloss: Always carry a lip gloss to pucker up your lips for those intimate moments
Kajal Pencil: Let your eyes do the talking
Perfume or a spray: Remember bad Body odour is the biggest turn off, so always smell pleasant
Hair Brush: Sweetie, out of the bed look wouldn’t really work with those long tresses
Wet tissue: So you look fresh all the time
Compact Powder: Don’t let that glow on your face go missing
Face wash: Keeps you awake during those late night movies or midnight buffets
Hand Towel: What if there are no tissues around?
Sunglasses: It’ll simply protect your eyes and make you look hot too
Mint: Enjoy your food without worrying about bad breath
Extra pair of Tee: Never forget that an extra pair of t shirt is your saviour on those days when you have an unforeseen night out
A book: It will never let you down, as rightly said… books are your best friends.

So, next time out on a date, don’t forget about the list of have’s…

Get noticed in office this summer

Are you feeling too hot to wear those full trousers to office? Here’s a tip:

Go out in the market, hunt for knee trousers. Team it up with a nice formal shirt, a waist coat
and a nice pair of comfortable heels. Sport a fancy watch, a nice pair of earrings, a delicate silver chain, a bracelet and carry your regular office bag to complete that professional look. Apply light make up to enhance your appearance.

Look for knee trousers at Guess, Promod, Mango and Pantaloons. Buy one and get the rest of them stitched; Cheap & Chic…

Go Linen

Fill your wardrobe with lots of linen fabric… trousers, shirts and skirts. Look corporate as well as stylish at the same time and see many faces turning green with envy.

Summer Tip

Drink lots of water to keep your skin flawless and glowing.

Summer Shorts

The hot and sunny summer is here again... Are your clothes ready to beat the heat?

I recommend shorts for the season, teamed up with different looks suiting various occasions.

For a summery day out

Linen and cotton shorts are apt for a casual outing, or a beach holiday.. preferably cool coloured shorts. Sport a ganjee or a T back with shorts, put on your ballet shoes or one of those nice, funky slippers. Add some chunky bangles, a big watch along with a beaded neck-piece and don’t forget to carry a big jute bag … complete your casual look by applying some kajal, a tinge of blush on and colour your lips light with a gloss.

For a shimmery night out

Wear those small hip shorts for a night out, black would look chic. An off shoulder, a tube top, a poncho top, a balloon top, or a lacy camasouile would be an apt choice to go with these shorts. Give your feet a treat by wearing those hot Aldo peep toes, a pair of wedge heels, or those sexy stilettos. If you want to avoid wearing heels then put on one of those lovely tie ups to compliment your outfit. A clutch bag would be the best suited accessory. Flatter yourself with one of those fine delicate long necklaces, the shiny bangles and danglers to complete your outfit. Apply some night make up and you are all ready to put the dance floor on fire.

Just add that oomph to your personality with shorts this summer
